For our project we chose the category of photography, and based our photos based on the style of photographer Martin Roemers. Roemers traveled all around and was influenced greatly from his travels to major cities such as New York and Mumbai. While traveling to these major cities, he focused on people who live in densely populated areas and urban towns. He took photographs of the lifestyle that the people of these major cities endure on a daily basis, and compiled them into one of his acclaimed works known as Metropolis. His goal was to reveal the human condition, and the chaotic lifestyle that takes place. For our project, we were influenced by the style and skill that was used in creating Metropolis, but our goal was to document the night-time life in the suburbs, which turned out to be a complete opposite to that of Metropolis. …show more content…

The motionless people become surrounded by bright blurred lines, and this gives off a feeling of rushed energy and ensuing chaos. For our photographs, we used his style of high exposure and blurring the moving images, but instead of taking the photos in a large metropolis, we took it at the Shops at Legacy, a shopping complex in Plano, TX which is a suburb of Dallas. Our pictures were taken from ground and elevated perspectives, and we were able to document the night life that occurs at a major shopping complex in the suburbs. We also used a similar style to Roemers, in the sense that we also used high exposure and blurred the moving images. However, our subject matter was different, and when we blurred the images and used a high exposure, the night time life gave off a feeling of a much more relaxed
