The article Red Letter Christians is very informative and offers plenty of background information on what the pro-life stance on abortion is about. This article is written by Tony Campolo who is a well-known sociologist and former spiritual advisor to U.S. President Bill Clinton (Campolo). So as you can see he is well accredited in his field. I will be analyzing Campolo’s main arguments and strengths throughout this essay to get a deeper look inside this article. Of all the articles I have read through so far this one seems to be the most reliable and detailed of them all. To start let’s take a look at Campolo’s main arguments throughout this article. In this article the author does not have to many arguments. More or less he is just stating other citizen’s stances and breaking them down. He provides plenty of pathos appeals which is used to strike the readers emotions. He discusses how it is impractical for a poor single woman to be able to have a child. Within that support he tries to get a sympathetic response from his readers saying how we need to enable poor women to be able to afford a better life and then that way they will be able to reject abortion (Campolo, 5). I think the strength of this article in its entirety is above average. I do not believe every single point hit in this article is strong, for instance when he discusses how it is hard to comprehend why someone can be pro-choice but yet still vote for the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban. Partial-birth abortion is a terrible thing and most people can recognize that. You can still be pro-choice and support that ban and that is where I believe the author falls weak.
