The documentary “Class Divided” is a video that was done in the early 1960s to show students how racism and discrimination is shown, and how to put yourself in that other persons shoes. The teacher had divided her students into two different groups based on their eye color. This exercise shows the students how discrimination racism can cause so much trouble and drama. It shows that we take this on because of our surroundings and how we are taught growing up. I felt that this video is perfect for what we have been learning and doing in our last discussion.
Another similarity is that Emily and Granny hid their love lifes. Emily did not have friends to talk to when her father died or when she killed Homer, and Granny never told her children about her jilting.

She mourns briefly, but then realizes that she can now live for herself, instead of just as someone’s wife. Shockingly, she walks downstairs after fleeing from her friends’ horrible news, and her husband walks in the door.

Miss Emily Grierson’s father controls her and her love life, pushing away all people until he dies and Emily is left alone. At her death, a gruesome sight is unfolded when her lover of over forty years ago is found decomposed in her upstairs room. William Faulkner effectively builds epic suspense in “A Rose for Emily” by the unchronological order of the story, the treatment of Emily’s father towards her, and her family’s history of mental illness.

In the second section, the smell issue is 30 years before the new government come to get Emily to pay the taxes. It is a short time after Homer’s disappearance and is two years after her father’s death. She was about thirty then.
I think this story is called “A Rose for Emily” and not A Rose for Miss Emily because it was written after she died. Everyone was scared of Emily, which is why they respected her, and wanted to stay out her business. Adding “miss’ to a person's name makes it feel much more formal and it makes it sound like a person respects another person. After she dies, people are no longer scared of her, so the amount of respect she gets goes down. That is why the title does not have “miss” in it.

Emily, the main character, keeps her dead dad at her house for few days until city officials dropped by to pick up his body. Secondly, Emily goes to the store to buy rat poisoning.
Essentially a rose is a flower that symbolizes love and portrayed as beautiful with an elegant smell. but, they also are prickly flowers. In the story a “Rose for Emily” by William Parker we learned that the character Miss Emily has died. “when Miss Emily Grierson died, our whole town went to her funeral”(Kelly, 155). Kelly, was deeply admired by the community she was a “monument”.
