I am applying to become a member of the Landmark Harbor East Theatre floor staff. Having been a lifeguard every summer for 4 years, I understand what it takes to provide customer service to patrons of an establishment. Additionally, through work as a lifeguard I acquired skills such as facility maintanence and team cooperation. As a floor staff member of Landmark Theatres, I can assure that I will use these skills to get the job done properly and efficiently. I am a tenacious worker and will go above and beyond to get the job done.
The city offers a wide variety of new people everyday; the YMCA offers the same regulars at the same time, everyday. If one prefers new faces everyday, city pools offers variety; on the other hand, if one prefers building relationships with swimmers, the YMCA offers a multitude of opportunities. There are benefits and shortcomings of both work places. It is common to dismiss this fact: lifeguarding is not a glamorous job and it requires utilizing life-saving skills every day the famous red whistle hits one’s neck. It is a highly regarded and respected job, and a lot of factors need to be taken into consideration when deciding what workplace is right for oneself.
“You two, get the ball down the pool and take a shot, just make sure it’s inbounds, don’t worry if you miss the goal, Kenzie will get the rebound.” My coach has barked these orders on numerous occasions throughout the year and it has never failed to give me a little thrill inside. As an athlete that tends to go unnoticed, getting acknowledgement in such an offhand way is pretty exciting. It shows me I have a place on the team, a job that my team depends on me to do. Water polo is a very difficult sport.
I would consider it both an honor and privilege to be selected for the Roland-Story Honor Society. This is an organization the represents the best in what students have to offer to others as well as themselves. I feel that I would be a worthy candidate and member of this organization as I constantly work at being my best in all areas, but especially in the areas of character, leadership and service. Character is a difficult trait to sometimes define and explain, but I feel that I work hard to demonstrate such characteristics such as dependable, compassionate, honest, and enduring.
I have heard a plethora of great things for being a lifeguard at Foothills Swim and Racquet Club. For example, coworkers are nice, teaching swim lessons are fun because people get to form a relationship with the kids, and have the chance to meet new people. My brother, Andrew Sebald, worked at Foothills last summer and loved everyday he was working there. All the great things that I have heard about came mostly from Andrew. This made me want to have the opportunity to work at Foothills.

During the summer, I had an eagerness to find a job; I wanted to keep myself occupied, so I applied everywhere, not concerning myself of the job description. I even applied for a janitorial positions; the thought of money was in my head. After applying to multiple jobs, I finally got accepted into American Swim Academy. I thought the job required a lifeguard, but little did I know, I had applied to be a swim instructor; I applied to a numerous job positions that I forgot what I applied for. They had assigned me classes with the skill levels of the child; I had to basically teach kids to swim.
Swimming Rules and Regulations USA swimming rules and regulations, FINA swimming rules and regulations and Olympic Swimming rules and regulations are all governing body’s when it comes to the sport of swimming. Trying to decipher the different affiliations, the varying rules and regulations can be just like swimming upstream. Once you think you understand the rules and the differences from each affiliation, they make wholesale changes. I have been swimming recreationally since I was very young and have also swam competitively for several years. I still struggle with different rules and which ones are the same and which are different or have recently changed.
Water polo is considered the most challenging sport in the world, both physically and mentally. But, the water polo team at Central York High School has been rejected and ignored by all but the players and coaches on the team. While the team does have Central York’s name on the cap, the team gets nothing from the school district. Central York Water Polo deserves funding from the school district it represents because it represents Central York in Central Pennsylvania, helps people develop physical and mental strength, and has been rejected by the school for too long. Central York High School boasts the best water polo team in York County.
I am a lifeguard. I have to renew my certifications every year for cpr and every two years for oxygen, first aid, swim instructor and lifeguard. My job has helped me in an abundant way in order to better serve people if they are ever in a difficult health situation. I started training with my now boss, Elaine Yarranton, at the age of 15, in August, almost 16 in September. I was not yet at the required minimum age of 16 to become a lifeguard-- still, she took me in and helped me become certified.
The story “The Swimmer” by John Cheever is a story about an old man who is having a difficult time accepting that time has passed in his life. With the intention to visit an old friend he decides he is going to swim through the pools and travel through the gardens of the people who were once present in his life. As he is going on this journey he starts to realize that there are things that have changed that he was completely unaware of. The neighbors and friends he once knew lives had changed and the main character, Neddy Merril doesn’t seem to understand why this is. While you continue reading you watch him start to come to this realization that the components of his youth have faded away and that despite his hopes that nothing has changed
I would love to “dive” into Ridgeview Middle/High School. If I could make a significant change to the structure or appearance of my school I would have a swimming pool at Ridgeview. Not only would it be beneficial to the school, but the public as well. First, having a swimming pool would be a brand new activity for everyone to enjoy. Instead of playing the same sport every day after school, students could go swimming with their friends or maybe their teammates.
For the last two years swimming has taken up most of my time. That time was spent getting faster, conversing with teammates, and helping the younger girls get better. After practice one day my coach informed me that I would not be making the sections team because of my time. Being the first senior in five years not to make it, I felt like a failure. For the next few days of practice I checked out mentally.
I 'm sure every group has that something that sets them apart from the other groups. But what makes the swimmers swimmers is the fact that we don 't hide our quirks. We know our quirks are what make us different and special, and we embrace it without shame. We are more open with each other than any other team. We redefine turning your team into a second family.
Coaches tend to live beneath a false sense of security that their only responsibility is to further the athletic capabilities if their players both individually, and collectively. This thought that coaches have no obligation to defend their athletes’ mental, and physical safety is absurd. Coaches are not simply caretakers of players, but of people, and therefore hold a moral and legal duty to create a safe environment of play, in order to prevent, and protect their athletes from serious head trauma, or other sports related injuries. Many believe that it is solely medical professionals’ jobs to keep athletes safe, while the majority of sports-world believes that this responsibility is shared among multiple different influences in
