Ethnography methods are a form of data being recorded about different cultures, peoples and much more such information can be obtained by the observer through the method techniques of interview and conversation. Missionaries are a prime user of these methods due to their passionate beliefs in the importance of other cultures and being able to engage with subject groups. Recorded data has also indicated that missionaries are very much likely to be the first known use of ethnography. A part of this engagement involves the missionaries to take down notes from their conversations to keep record of their data (Schebel 2017). A couple of the key advantages that reinforce this method is the ability to help people understand more about other cultures, can easily evolve and bring light new things (Green Garage 2018). In the small segment I’ve chosen to review about she demonstrates the disadvantages of her research through the events that are currently taking place. One of the hardships she later discusses is the confidentiality of her subjects that needs to be considered when taking her findings to a public level. This case study has achieved in showing the disadvantages that are able to take place with ethnography. This has been done by discussing the risks in which the observer under-went in order to receive documentation, as well as keep those subjects confidential as measure of safety. Although faced with these problems Pettigrew was still able to share her data to the public with the acceptation of keeping her subjects identity private. Thus proving the advantages of this method still shine through the disadvantages that present themselves as data is still being achieved and
