Fruitvale Station: Reaction Paper
Throughout the years there has been several stories on police brutality and the Fruitvale Station film is one of those stories. It showed the viewers situations that involve racial profiling, police brutality and abuse of power. Throughout the film the main character Oscar had strengths, weaknesses and he shows how he gets through it before his death.
It all started when Oscar and his friends on New Year 's Eve got stuck on the trolley and ran into gang members that he had problems with in the past. One of those emotions is sadness, by showing what people go through during police brutality and racial profiling. You can also feel the helplessness Oscar went through as he struggled with money to provide for the rent and to take care of his family. For me it created a sad mood because I can relate to his story, by the way he struggled to pay the rent it made me think of the time my parents were struggling when I was small. It also created a furious emotion for me by the way the officers racial profiled because my uncle is African American and he been in that situation that he was racial profiled while being with my family which are Mexicans. Over the whole film the major emotions I received were sadness and anger.
As the viewer, I would have wanted the film to end on a good note. I would 've wanted Oscar to survive the gunshot and violence he went through. Then, fight for his rights and go to court for the situation he went through. So many people recorded the scene and if he survived he could 've fought for justice and brought the situation to the spotlight. After, he would find a good paying job to support his family. Then he would stop struggling and stay out of trouble. After that he would have a baby as he wanted and he would have lived happily ever
