“Because nothing so perfect can last an eternity, can it? (Cole 23). This quote truly shows the main idea of the book A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole. Poppy and Rune, two teenagers who met way back when they were five years old and have been best friends since. They shared every single moment together from concerts to campfires to kisses under the blossom grove. So when Rune’s father tells him that they have to move to Norway because of his work, Rune is frustrated and can not believe that his parents would take him away from Poppy knowing how much she means to him. In this journal, I will be evaluating Poppy and Rune and their search for love and I will also be evaluating Poppy’s love for his grandmother.
In the beginning of the book when Rune was five and also new to the neighbor, he was nervous and mad at his parents for moving him to a new place, a new school, and a new neighborhood. She loved her grandmother so much that they even shared the same favorite place under the blossom grove. When her grandmother died, she gaved Poppy an “adventure” for the rest of her life. She gaved her a jar to fill with a thousand boy kisses. She told her to fill that jar with special kisses from a special boy. Every time a boy kissed her and the kiss was very special she was to write it down and put it in the jar. Everytime Poppy touched that jar, She knew her grandmother was with her, she knew that she was watching her, she knew that she loves her.
