From being described as impatient and lacking confidence in herself to being heroic & loving, Meg Murry in A Wrinkle in Time is an awkward, but brave character that uses those characteristics about her to her advantage and “save the girl”, but in her case, save her brother. Meg, in the beginning of the story, describes herself as being a
“delinquent”, but by the end of the story learns to “grow up” and use her weaknesses to help her in the difficult situation of saving her little brother. Even though Meg has both good and bad characteristics about her like thinking of herself as a “oddball” and being impatient, stubborn, and angry, but being brave and full of love. Meg Murry is a twelve-year-old girl who thinks of herself as being an oddball and can be described by others in the story as being impatient. “‘I hate being an oddball...’”
(pg 14) Growing up Meg and her little brother Charles Wallace had always been the
“oddballs” in the Murry family. Compared to her siblings, father, and mother they were strange and in Meg’s mind being strange or odd is a bad thing. Together with being an odd girl Meg can also be impatient. “‘My, but the little miss is impatient! Patience, patience, young lady.’” (pg 118) If she were to have asked someone the answer to

In the town of
Camazotz an evil being, IT, took control the minds of innocent people and turned them into a “perfect town”. “‘They’re all perfectly trained!’” (pg 101) Meg loves her little brother so dearly and because of all the love she has for him she needed to save him. Charles
Wallace is a very important figure in Meg’s life. He understood her even if her other brothers, Sandy and Dennys, didn’t. Being able to save her loved one’s life and along the way find self confidence this forever change Meg’s life and the way she sees things. At the beginning of the novel Meg Murry was very impatient and kind of relied on others to do her work for her whether it be out of fear or other reasons, but also considered herself as odd and as a delinquent. “-A delinquent, that’s what I am, she thought grimly.-” (pg 6) She did not think that she had very many good things about her, until the end of the novel.
