‘A Wrinkle in Time’ is a book under the perspective of a peculiar high school girl named Megg Murry. The author Madeleine L’engle portrays this tale using a variety of unique and fictional settings. Megg ventures through various dimensions of time and space along with other bright, fictive characters and celestial creatures. The author conveys a tale about how our universe is furtively invaded by a dark and wicked beast threatening earth. These unique characters have special abilities, and were born as extraordinary geniuses. Their talents enable them to carry out different jobs and help complete the mission as a team. Calvin was primarily seen as a regular boy who ‘is good in school’ but, later discovered to have amazing qualities and talents resembling the other characters. He is initially seen as the popular sportsman in school who is ‘good in basketball and things’ and is way out of Megg’s lead. He is known to be smart and successful in school, and is exposed as a normal character unlike Megg and Charles Wallas, who don’t fit with the general public specifically in school. As the story goes on, the author reveals that Calvin may be fitted in school yet not fitted at home. He is continuously disregarded by his family and is unnoticeable, stating that he is continuously being ‘locked out’ due to his discreetness. Although he still cares about his family but ‘nobody else does’. He states that Megg has no idea how lucky she is ‘to be loved’ by her family and that she should not be taking it for granted. His outer appearance and his life known to the public is deceiving. The author shows how one may have hidden situations that have never been considered, as one only relies and judges a person based on what appears in front of them. This is where Calvin’s character resembles the earths setting. The earth is hidden and its internal problems are unseen by most of the world, people are living on earth unexposed to its dangers unknowing that a shadow profile is invading it by the second.
