There are many times in our lives when we look back at history we do not see the importance in it. Although we think of history this way many families at those times were horrified because they did not know what was going on. Most of the colonist were fearful about the war, but there were some brave people ready to fight. Abigail Adams was both sad and scared about the colonies going to war against Great Britain. In her letter she wants the men to be shielded during the war: “Almighty God cover the heads of our Countrymen and be a shield to our dear friends.” Abigail feels that the Countrymen have a high probability of dying so she wants God to watch over them and be a shield for them so they will not die in the war. Adams also writes about all the gunfire that is making life very difficult: “...the constant roar of the cannon is so distressing that we cannot Eat,Drink or Sleep.” Abigail is supporting the colonies on the fight for independence but she is very fearful about the roar of the cannon that it is changing her everyday life and she wants the war to be over. Captain Soloman is ready to defend his “brothers” if they are hurt: “Brothers! Whenever I see your blood running,you will soon find me about you to revenge my brothers blood.” Captain Soloman and his tribe had a strong bond with their American brothers; this bond was so strong they were ready to go defend them and maybe even die for them. Captin Soloman is ready to help them if they get hurt and have the colonies guide his army: “...we are ready to do anything for your relief, and shall be guided by your counsel.” He is telling the patriots that his tribe and him are ready to help in this war and ready to try and win the war with them. Captin Solomans tribe wants to help the patriots and they do not want to just stand by and watch their brothers
