In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, Abigail Williams was the start of the Salem Witch Trials. Abigail is an eighteen year old girl who lived in Salem in 1692. After her parents were killed by Indians, she was raised by her uncle, Reverend Parris. She worked as a servant for the Proctor’s before being kicked out by Elizabeth Proctor. Abigail was a troubled girl with a personality mixed with lust, vengefulness, and suspicion.
Analyzing the Crucible In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, Abigail Williams was the cause of the Salem Witch Trials. Abigail was an 18 year old who lived with her uncle Rev.Parris & her cousin, Betty. Her parents got killed by Indians when she was very young. At one time she worked for the Proctors but, she had an affair with John Proctor.
Through harsh rejection and preposterous delusions, Abigail Williams abused her good name and became the fault for the bitter ends of many for something they were not guilty of. I have reread significant sections of The Crucible several times and have read and analyzed it to the best of my ability on multiple occasions. Once reading this book in my Honors English Course at the number one high school in the state of California, we carefully analyzed the characters, going as far as even making character charts, to understand them and their intentions much better. Abigail WIlliams, who is at fault for the Salem Witch Trials, held verbal power and influence over the girls which led to the sentenced hanging of many, and acted unwisely on the galling

He later on conceded, that he was aware of how the Arabs would show retaliation against the Jews living in their country. In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Miller introduces the idea, apparent in today’s world, that sometimes people blame others to save themselves from punishment through the characters’ actions and the asides from Miller. The most prominent character that displays this theme is Abigail Williams. Several times Abigail pushes the blame on others when she senses trouble. When Parris finds the girls dancing in the forest, Abigail knows she has to do something to avoid punishment.

Abigail Williams is not your typical teenage girl. She is a girl that will drink blood to kill someone, accuse people of witchcraft, and have a affair. By looking at The Crucible, one can see that Abigail Williams develops the theme of reputation, which is important because people who fear losing their reputation spread hysteria. Protecting her reputation motivates Abigail Williams to accuse others of being a witch.
Abigail Williams is a 17 year-old orphan who is currently living her uncle, Reverend Samuel Parris and his daughter and also her cousin Elizabeth Parris also known as Betty. In the play, it is revealed that she has been dancing in the woods with girls of Salem and performing voodoo with her uncle’s slave, Tituba. Dancing is a very big sin in Salem, dancing is one of the signs of witchcraft so when rumors of witchcraft begin to circulate through the town Abigail and Betty start naming people as witches in order to divert suspicion from themselves.

While many focus on the horror of the witch hunt, some look to the people who conducted the hunts to find out why this happened and who is to blame. Abigail Williams is to blame for the deaths of all the innocent people in the Salem Witch Trials because she pretended to see the devil in people just so she could have one person dead.

The witch trials is where people accusing each other in the courtroom about witchcraft. She is responsible for the witchcraft hysteria because she is a mean and cold hearted person and she lies and causes many people to suffer throughout the story.
In the play, The Crucible, Abigail Williams and a group of girls danced and conjured spirits in the woods and began the hysteria of witchcraft in Salem. As the story unfolds, Abigail starts out as a troublemaker and gets caught in the woods. She lies to her uncle and tries to save herself but gets caught and fesses up. She is also obsessed with John Proctor, who is trying to push her away after an affair. Abigail was most responsible for witchcraft in Salem and should be held responsible for the imprisonment and execution of innocent people because she lied to all of the townspeople first and had an affair with John Proctor.
In this paper I will argue that Abigail Williams is not a trustworthy person. Abigail is an orphan she has constant to feel important and wanted.she was involved in an affair with John Proctor .She hates his wife because she spreads rumors about her. Abigail begins to show me her true character through the scene describing her dancing in the woods. While they were in the woods Abigail was setting a spell on John Proctor's wife.
Abigail Williams was the goody two shoes that kept her reputation high, until she turned on many with a single lie. In The Crucible By Arthur Miller, is set in the year of 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts where a witch outbreak has jailed many of the women from a fault of one girl named Abigail. It causes havoc in Salem that will lead to death in the village. Abigail has shown many transformations and showed that she is very dynamic from her emotions, to her actions, and to her experiences throughout the story of The Crucible. Abigail has shown that she has grown mentally and emotionally.
