Abortion is a huge controversial issue we face in society today. The advancement in medicine and technology has added to the rising issue of if abortion should even be considered an option and if so, when is it okay? Abortion isn’t just about the life of the unborn child now, but it has become another issue regarding women’s rights. Is it ethical to tell a woman when she should have a child and what happens when the woman’s life is in danger? Whose life is more important, the mother or the baby? Multiple arguments against abortion are solely based on a matter of opinion of what is right and wrong. If a woman believes she cannot provide the financial or emotional support that is needed for having a child then it should be up to her whether or not she wishes to go through her pregnancy or to stop her pregnancy from progressing. Some woman are told their child will be born with defects or won’t have a long life so they choose abortion as a way to prevent their child from having a poor quality life. Motherhood is not something to be taken lightly so if a woman knows she is not ready to be a mother then I think abortion is a responsible route to take. Numerous amount of people don’t realize the high risk a woman is putting her life when she carries another human being inside her body for nine months. Unfortunately, pregnancy can cause a woman to increase her chances of getting a health condition. Many females acquire health conditions like hypertension, diabetes and chronic heart disease while pregnant while pregnant. Although these conditions don’t seem to be serious enough to cause death, if a woman with any of these conditions don’t properly take care of herself, it will cause her health to decrease, causing further health problems or even …show more content…

Wade legalized abortion for reasons other than the mother’s child being at risk. Jane Roe claimed that her fourteenth amendment rights were being violated since she was being told what she could and couldn’t do with her own body. The fourteenth amendment says “no State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States” (U.S). So why was this even an issue if the United States constitution grants citizens the right to do what they want with their bodies? The arguments for both sides of this case was heard twice after being granted certiorari. The final decision on the case stated that it all came down to a woman’s right to have the privilege and privacy to have an abortion. Forty six states had to adjust their abortion laws to accommodate this new ruling. This case was decided in 1973 about 44 years ago, so why are we still considered with this issue. There are plenty of other pressing issues that need to be taken into consideration, so why is our time being used to make arguments against abortion that is solely based on
