To be pro-life or pro-choice are belief systems that can pertain to euthanasia or assisted suicide, the death penalty, war and abortions. “The pro-life and pro-choice movements primarily come into conflict on the issue of abortion. The pro-life movement argues that even non-viable, undeveloped human life is sacred and must be protected by the government. Abortion, according to this model, must not be legal, nor should it be widely practiced on an illegal basis. The pro-choice movement argues that in cases where human personhood cannot be proven, e.g. in pregnancies prior to the point of viability, the government does not have the right to impede a woman's right to decide whether or not to continue a pregnancy” (civilliberty.about.com). I was independent, strong minded, and strong willed. I always wondered what would happen if I were to get pregnant out of wedlock. Would I consider abortion? I considered that to be an option if that had happened to me. However I got into such a situation that would clearly be by my own fault and irresponsibility. I am accountable for me. I would have had to endure the burden for the rest of my life for having made that decision. Also, had I decided not to have an abortion, I would still be accountable for me and my child, regardless of the repercussions or lash back from my family. Either way, it would be my choice and my choice alone. Now that I am a mother, I still believe in being pro-choice. No one can step into my shoes and live my life. I do not expect to do it for others.
