Is the choice to have an abortion not important for the woman of America? If our country is all about freedoms, why do women lose this right? If the New Jersey government passes this bill woman in prisons will lose this right. This bill displays that the government should not pay for women's abortions in prison. This may sound like a good idea to some, but I strongly disagree with this bill because the price for these abortions are just too expensive and the women should have the right to choose between an abortion or not.

So would a heroin addict be able to raise a baby correctly, while she is in prison? Maybe she feels like she can, so she will have the baby. But, if she feels she can not, she will not even have the choice to abort it because the government will not pay for it. Her child will end up in foster homes until they are eighteen and live a melancholy life with no family. Moreover, “Marie-Celeste Condon, a specialist in infant mental health and development at the University of Washington School of Social Work, supports this finding through her own research and involvement with the nursery in the Washington Corrections Center for Women. “Those early months are when a baby learns that the world can be trusted, and the focus needs to be on what is best for the baby,” she says” (CWLA). This baby will be mentally unstable since he or she will never develop these fundamental principles for a child to be raised correctly since his or her mother will be in jail. This will most likely cause the child to turnout the same way as it’s mother. Some may argue that if the government will need to pay for the abortions then they will have to raise taxes. But, it is more important to give the women in prison the right to choose rather than charging less taxes.
