As Commander in Chief, Abraham Lincoln made numerous decisions that impacted the outcome of the war. He used a broad interpretation of his Oath of Office to justify nearly any action he took. Many of these actions overstepped the bounds of the Constitution, but all were made with the greater good of the country in mind. Despite having the best intentions, Lincoln did make mistakes throughout his presidency, such as how he handled the military.

Presidents are elected to preform and achieve greatness in America; they serve as the commander and chief of armed forces, and they find ways in coming up with agreements regarding trade and aid along with many other things. Being the president is obviously not an easy task. Have you ever thought about who you thought the best presient of the United States of America was? According to a debate in Taking Sides written by Larry Madaras and James SoRelle they presented an argument between Phillip Shaw Paludan and Melvin E. Bradford debating if Abraham Lincoln was America’s Greatest President. Many people agreed and disagreed whether or not President Lincoln was the greatest; however the sides of two professors were part in the Taking Sides issue of yes or no.

Firstly, Thomas Jefferson was the strongest president because he served the Union for years before his presidency.
I agree as well I 've heard numerous times that the only reason salves were freed was because it was a means to an end. If we could have won the war without freeing slaves or simply forced them to fight and return to their masters without them escaping to another country I don 't think the slaves would have been freed. Maybe I 'm being cynical but I don 't see Abraham Lincoln as that much of a bleeding heart. I see Lincoln as being a seperate but a little less than equal kind of guy.
Abraham Lincoln was the best president because of his dedication to his people. Lincoln may have not gone into battle like George Washington did but in a way he did. Abraham risked his life every single day to try to stop slavery. Slavery is one of the worst things that can happen and also one of the most dangerous things to interfere with. Abraham Lincoln also was a great president because of his love for all people.

1. I expect a president to be decisive, tough, and not afraid of disappointing the people of the United States. I also expect a president to be assertive, and able to think for himself while taking constructive input from others. The president must also be confident, innovative, and, when need be, manipulative and ruthless. I want a president like Abraham Lincoln, who took substantial control of the federal government in order to effectively lead the Civil War.
The Civil War was a bloody war that occurred on American soil. It pitted the north against the south, and the Confederacy versus the Union. There were multiple events that helped cause the war, such as: Abraham Lincoln becoming president, and the forming of the Confederacy. These events were key factors leading up to the Civil War that lead to mass bloodshed Abraham Lincoln was a very successful president that eventually did many things for our country. Even though he was a great president in our eyes he was hated in the south, so much so that he wasn 't even on the ballots in some states.
Abraham Lincoln’s legacy would have been different because I believe he wouldn 't in this day and age, be remembered quite as much. I believe this because even though Lincoln did serve as the president in the Civil War, another big part of his legacy was how he was the first president to be assassinated while in office. Another reason why I believe Lincoln 's legacy would 've changed if he wasn 't murdered at Ford Theatre is, the long historical manhunt for John Wilkes Booth. Which lasted 12 days would´ve never existed. Booth had a painful death, he was shot in the neck and still
