Brandon Smith Mr.Dittmar 12/14/2014 American History Book Report #2 “Killing Lincoln” Killing Lincoln is a very good easy to read historical book. I already knew some about when Lincoln was shot and how he died but this book put in so much more little details that any other thing I have gotten information from. I feel like Bill O'Rreilly did a very good job writing this book. I really like the way that it was wrote using the time and different days for the chapters. That helped give the book some detail and helped me understand what was going on in the book and when important scenes were easier to understand.
He will help Arkansas to become a state so that was he was known of as hero of the state of Arkansas. After failing he went back to the state of Kentucky and became another politician. Couple of years later on the day of July 12, 1945 he died in the state of Kentucky. He was buried on Springfield Cemetery, Kentucky.
Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard’s book, Killing Lincoln, is mainly about President Lincoln’s time as President of the United States. Little do people know that Lincoln was hated by many Americans. President Lincoln’s assassination was slowly being planned out by a murder named John Wilkes Booth. Despite his careful planning, Booth’s plans had to be suddenly changed at the last minute when his plans to change. Booth immediately had to come up with a new plan and go a total different route.

An accomplice is a person who helps another commit a crime, which in this case it’s Samuel Mudd and Mary Surratt who had helped John Wilkes Booth assassinate Lincoln at Ford’s Theater.

The Americans were not justified in going to war with Mexico because Texas illegally revolted from Mexican authority, Polk provoked the Mexican military, and Manifest Destiny was made up as a way to promote the expansion to promote slavery.

The trail of Tears in 1838 and 1839, as a part of Andrew Jackson’s Indian removal policy, the Cherokee was forced to give up their land that were east of the Mississippi and they were too migrate to present-day Oklahoma. The Trail of Tears began during the 1830’s. The reason the Trail of Tears took place was because of the enforcement of the Treaty of New Echota. The Treaty of New Echota was an agreement that was signed under the provisions of the Indian Removal Act. The Trail of Tears was a big event that happened.
To Americans, America is a normal, basic country. America is an argumentative and feeling country with debates around every corner; yet somehow it retains a respectable air for a majority of the time. However, to people who live outside of America, the idea of what America is or could be differs entirely.
Abraham Lincoln has long considered to be one of the best presidents of the United States. His work in preserving the union and abolishing slavery are successes unprecedented by the achievements of any other leaders before him. Lincoln faithfully completed the responsibilities of his position during his time in office. Upon examining the many roles a president plays, Lincoln proves to be a strong model of a president’s duties in his office. He very successfully completed his responsibilities as chief executive, foreign policy leader, chief administrator, Commander in Chief, chief agenda leader, chief of state, party leader, and chief citizen.
Throughout the establishment of the United States, there have been 44 presidents whom the people elected. A particular number of these terms have been deemed as “legendary” from the accomplishment of the president and his overall impact on American society. From these presidents, the 16th has shown to be the embodiment of this legendary status. Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, has achieved many accolades in his lifetime. He was our president during the Civil War, which was one of the bloodiest in history.
