A young boy, named Abraham Lincoln, was born on February 12, 1809 in Kentucky. His mom was Nancy Lincoln and father Thomas Lincoln. They had five kids living and Abraham was and Abe was the second oldest of the five. Him and his family grew up in log cabins then continued farm to farm to survive and put food on the table to help feed Abe and his other siblings. No one didn’t really focused on the Lincoln’s because they didn’t give anybody any trouble or they just didn’t stay long enough for anyone to know. People talked in the small town they lived in doubting them and putting Abraham and his brothers and sisters down. This is the story of the strong and honest Abraham Lincoln (Goldman 1).
Young Abe went through very much hard times at a very early age. Death was a very common thing in the 1800s, but it didn’t come as common as it did to Abe and his family. At age of two his brother, Tom, dies from a sickness. After a couple years of living and raising cattle his mother died of “milk sickness” after drinking milk of a cow who ate a very poisonous plant. It is said every night right before Abe and his siblings would lay and sleep, she would tell them stories of things in the world or by experience. Education was a rough for young Abe because school was miles away and the only way to get there was by foot. Abe’s mindset was very strong he knew education was a must so a couple of miles didn’t hold him back from going. His step-mother was the one who pushed him the hardest and knew that he was a very bright child. In the late teens Abe moves out hoping to be the best he can be and left his step-mother and father behind.
