Abstinence only programs help teens understand that sex can lead to unwanted pregnancies, that it is best to stay abstinent until after marriage, why sexual relations can often lead to physical and psychological side effects, and why its not only good to learn about abstinence, but about sex education as well. These are all statements said from The Advocates of Youth on their website. This article helps our research by helping teens see why it is great to learn about abstinence. This also helps teens understand that unprotected sex is one thing not to be played with.
Knowing information about human contraception and condoms is a natural human known fact. There are many things humans (in this case teens) should know. Take the fact that sex CAN lead to unwanted pregnancies in unprotected sex. Condoms and contraception provides less unwanted pregnancies and less sexually transmitted infections. Abstinence only programs help teens understand the qualities of their quality of relationships and it can help in decision making skills. Staying abstinent of course reduces your chances of becoming pregnant but also gives you the chance to improve on loving your mind and body. Most unwanted pregnancies are from unmarried couples or teens.
