1. Describe the source(s)/reasons for the conflict.
According to Marquis & Huston, common sources of conflict are
• Scarce resources
• Restructuring
• Poorly defined role expectations
• Communication problems
• Organizational structure
• Individual behavior

2. Who was involved and what communication styles were used?
Example of a conflict, this did not happen to me but someone I knew. It was between the Nurse and the Doctor. The communication styles used was “Assertive communication is rude or insensitive.” (Marquis & Huston, 2012) There was a break of communication where the Doctor was questioning the Nurse as to why the blood pressure medication was on hold without contacting and notifying the Doctor. 5. What outcomes were achieved?
There were no outcomes being achieved based on the story what my friend told me. I think being angry and attacking someone will not accomplish a win-win situation especially when the most important thing in this case is the patient care.

6. What lessons were learned from the conflict situation?
I learned from what is being told to me is that being aggressive, and not actively listening will not accomplish or resolve any conflicts. Sometimes, we tend to just act in anger and draw conclusion (usually not a good one) on a situation without getting the full story. I think both parties the Doctor and the Nurse should have collaborated by putting each other’s difference and tried communicating in order to achieve the goal which was give the best care possible to the patient. “Collaborating is an assertive and cooperative means of conflict resolution that results in a win–win solution. In collaboration, all parties set aside their original goals and work together to establish a supraordinate or priority common goal.
