1. According to the Preamble, what are we the people trying to do? What is the purpose of the Constitution?
To understand what the Constitution is one must first realize what came first. The Constitution in my opinion is an extension of the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence declared what was wrong with government. A government run by a king and a committee especially. The Constitution on the other hand gives clear and concise ideals on how a government should conduct itself when run by the very people it governs. While democracy was not new and unheard of, the American colonies took a very hard stance that it would be a true democracy run by its own people. Unless you were a slave of course.

What are the three Articles you think are important? Describe which of the sections of that article make it important and why they’re necessary.
This was a very hard choice for me. There is no doubt in my mind that Articles 1-3 are the absolute most important. Those articles give us the three branches of the government. Those articles are a blueprint of how the government should be setup and run. I always find it amazing how much the founding fathers tried to factor in human nature with all of the checks and balances that were included in these. Article 1 creates a legislative congress. It has two parts. It consists of a House of Representatives and a Senate. The members of the House of Representatives are divided among the states proportionally, or according to size, giving more populous states more representatives in the House. The Senate on the other hand is divided equally with each state getting 2 Senators, no matter what the population. Section 7 is very important, as it gives instructions on how a bill is made into law. I did find it interesting that congress can overturn a veto from the president. Checks and balances at its
