“The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” is about a man on a ship going to a wedding. The Mariner comes across facing inner struggles for the crime he commits. He commits a crime killing the Albatross and hangs it around his neck so he won’t forget what senseless act he did. For seven days and seven nights he is forced to stay in solitary for his punishment for killing the bird. To carry out his penance he was to perform wandering around the earth and tell his story to people. The Mariner knew the crime he did was wrong and senseless. In the end he must learn that forgiveness must to be asked and earned. However, he must accept accountability for his actions so he can make up for his sins.
