Achilles is the strongest warrior of the Greeks during the Trojan of the Greeks against the people of Troy. His strength is unmatched and can single handedly sway the outcome of a battle. Achilles exemplifies pride and comradery. Achilles doesn’t let Patroclus’ pride be battered by avenging his death, also showing comradery among the friends. Achilles and Beowulf display super-human strength.
By killing monsters to protect the Danes he died glorious and famous. Achilles killed to avenge his bestfriend’s death. After Achilles slit Hectors throat, Achilles asks Hector if he thought he could get away with killing Patroclus, then Hector dies. Achilles felt the need to get revenge for Patroclus. And so he

Achilles was born of a demi-god as the son of Peleus and Thetis, Superman was born on a world of destruction that he was rocketed to Earth. Achilles and Superman will be compare on their invincibility. Superman differs by his weakness by being killed with green kryptonite.
Although the word “hero” has transcended time, the definition has not. When modern-day humans go into reading about Greek heroes, expecting them to resemble our current ones, they are unpleasantly surprised to find selfish people who sometimes indiscriminately murder in the name of honor. In comparison, we value the firefighter that puts their life on the line to save others, the person standing up to the bully with pacifism rather than fists, and those that learn to forgive and forget instead of spending their entire lives seeking revenge on those that have wronged them. Thus, Achilles would not be considered a modern-day hero like he was in ancient Greece, because whilst they valued glory, brutal strength, and revenge, today we value selflessness,
Achilles was the sun a peleus. peleus was a mortal and a king it was said that he was a powerful soldier as well. He had a mother named thetis she was a nereid, a nereid is one out of the 50 daughters of nereus a sea nymph. Nereid wanted achilles to be an immortal so she did stuff like put him over a fire every night or dress his wounds with ambrosial because she knew that his fate was to die in a war [the trojan war] she did all of that because immortals don't die when he was 9 his dad dressed him up as a girl and sent him to the island in the aegean sea called skyros.
Achilles is superior to many others because, he serves as the Greek army 's best warrior. The Trojans are frightened by the strength that Achilles puts forth, that even his war gear makes them want to run away from him in terror. He shows his strength, as he is capable to conquer the power of Hector and defeat him. Achilles is invincible, unlike Hector, as shown when Homer states, “Achilles’ invincible arms-”(20.569) Achilles has a reputation as a power warrior, as shown throughout The Iliad. The face of death doesn’t stop his courage from shining through.
These abilities are important as a warrior because both his men and the hero reflect and are influenced by them. Some of the abilities are excellence in war, courage, leadership and fighting qualities. These qualities are seen through the heroic characters Hector and Achilles. When Achilles is not present with his men, the Greeks are well defeated by the Trojans with no motivation or support. Achilles is also described by his men as a power figure when the poem says “These were his words,/ and all Achaeans gave a roar of joy/ to hear the Prince abjure his rage.”
There were many Greek heroes known for all of their conquests. Achilles was the son of a king and nymph and was known as the finest warrior of the Agamemnon army. As a young child, his mother, Thetis, dipped Achilles in the River Styx which made him invulnerable in battle. She held him by his heel to dip him in the water which left that heel vulnerable. This is referred to as the “Achilles’ heel.”
Wealth, smartphones, and fame are just a few of the many objectives that people glorify in today’s day. However, Achilles and Hector from the Iliad glorify: power, strength, and of course bravery. Like Achilles and his bravery, people today jump to the word ‘wealth’. Our entire lives are based off of how much we make and what we do for a living. We glorify the aspect of making more than another individual, as does Achilles glorifying how much braver he can be than Hector.
In Homer’s The Iliad, epic hero Achilles serves as an example of how rage, when unchecked, leads to disastrous repercussions. Achilles, though nearly superhuman in his physical abilities, struggles repeatedly to contain his anger. Throughout The Iliad, as Achilles’ fury compounds, the consequences of his actions become catastrophic, eventually leading to the death of his best friend, Patroclus. Although Achilles ultimately chooses to avenge Patroclus’ death and achieve his own kleos, or honor, his rage-driven actions lead to the death of many Achaean soldiers, and change the course of his fate.
Achilles is a man who fights for himself. He shows no mercy towards anyone and when it comes to war, he will kill anyone or do anything that he needs to do in order to get his way. He is a very conceited man, and he doesn't take orders from anyone else. Throughout this movie, Achilles went from a war-drawn hero to dying as a compassionate man.
The Iliad also spotlights the individual qualities of a Greek hero or non-hero. Numerous characters in the Iliad demonstrated exceptional qualities of a Greek person that was valued, such as bravery and helpfulness and that was disproved of like selfishness. One trait that is highly appreciated by the greeks in the Iliad is bravery. In battle Hector killed Achilles´s best friend Pactorlos in battle.

Introduction. Greek mythological heroes, and Roman mythological heroes share similar trades, however are different in many ways. These similarities and differences can be identified when looking at the means for the creation of a hero, and a hero’s life. This essay will discuse the similarities and differences in Roman and Greek heroes by anylysing the primary and secondary sources they feuture in respectively. Firstly will context be given, secondly the secondary sources in which the heroes feature, and lastly the spefic Greek and Roman hero will be compared.
Iliad is recognized as one of the most famous ancient monuments of literature. The full understanding of this epic poem is hardly possible without thorough analysis of its main characters. Among all the episodes of the Trojan War, Homer chooses the moment of Achilles’ wrath and thus creates a poem in which he becomes the central figure. From the Ancient Greeks’ point of view, Achilles represents the ideal of manliness and pure heroism, for he is brave and fights for heroics, not profits. Today, one can agree with this interpretation, yet Achilles is probably the most controversial character because he combines various personality traits and acts in accordance with his ambiguous nature.
