The images used in ads are essential to the product and to the ad itself which is why Lay’s uses a fresh block of cheese and fresh jalapenos on a cutting block. They also use words like fresh and spicy to accommodate the images in the ad to produce a more visual and intrinsic effect. Lay’s uses glittering generality in their ad when they say that their new chips have forty percent less fat and one-hundred percent flavor, which is making a statement without having any actual facts to back it up. Although saying their product has one-hundred percent flavor can’t be proven, it does make the viewer want to taste the product. Their ad uses very vibrant and flamboyant colors throughout the whole advertisement, and this makes the images pop out to the reader. Using electrifying colors also makes them want to read the details about the product. These images are used to make the viewer have more of an adequate feeling because the chips are being hand-crafted inside of a kitchen. These ads are important for a number of reasons like: getting exposure for the product, helping to sell the product, and proving the points that the brand is trying to convey through the ad. They should be clever and appealing to the consumer who is viewing it. In their ad, Lay’s Chips shows their ingredients to be fresh, tasteful, and low in fat. However, they do it in a clever and more straight-forward way to ensure they capture the viewer’s attention.
