“In fewer than 11 minutes, twenty first-grade pupils and six adults had lost their lives” (Sanchez 1). On December 14, 2012 the lives of families across the nation changed forever. Adam Lanza, a twenty year old man suffering with multiple mental illnesses, went on a shooting rampage at the Sandy Hook Elementary School after murdering his mother just minutes before. He had no motive for his unbelievable actions, but took the lives of children who had so many more years to live and memories to make. The Sandy Hook shooting was the second most deadly shooting in the United States, as it scarred innocent people, and still has families across the nation wondering why this horrific event happened. Investigators say “Lanza may have intended to make it look like a second shooter was involved” (Testa 1). After searching Adam’s car, police found 2 black jackets and extra ammunition in the passenger's seat of the car. Guns and a one black boot were also found outside the door of the open passenger’s seat door. Although no one can confirm that they saw a second shooter, a school worker claimed that he saw someone running out of the school during the shooting. More investigation went into the situation but even after 4 years, nothing has been found. After the shooting, police and investigators found that Adam had an ID of Ryan Lanza, his brother. Ryan was falsely accused of having something to do with the shooting and was arrested. Ryan was released but was pounded with hate comments on social media. Ryan along with the whole Lanza family live with a constant shame and disappointment in their name. Adam might have tried to make it seem as though there was another person involved, but that doesn’t take away that he was the main murderer of this horrific

The Sandy Hook shooting was the second most deadly shooting in the U.S and left many families damaged after this unimaginable event took place. The students and teachers that went under the shooting were only focused on surviving through a horrific event and wondering if they would ever see their families again. First graders witnessed their friends in the next room being massacred, and unthinkable image. This event left the nation in a scare, causing everyone to look at gun and going to school a different way. Shooter and murderer Adam Lanza took the lives of many containing 30.47 pounds of ammunition. Although he did not use it all, it was enough to scar innocent students and teachers.
