December 14, 2012, is a date that will live in infamy. On this day, Adam Lanza stole the lives of 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Over the past two decades, over 150 women, accused former doctor, Larry Nassar, of sexual assault. On December 1, 2017, Michael Flynn, former national security adviser, pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, failing to reveal the talks he had with a former Russian ambassador about lifting the sanctions placed by the Obama administration. All of these horrific events have one thing in common: sin. In a world full of violence and corruption, is it weakness or evilness that causes sin? Famed rapper, Kendrick Lamar, released an album, in April of 2017, addressing all of the sin and violence currently plaguing America. In his album DAMN, he provides listeners with a much deeper meaning than the standard, stereotypical rap album through focusing on the source of violence and destruction. The thought that a human being with a conscious could terrorize a school in killing innocent students and teachers was astounding. Such a tragedy begs the question of why Adam Lanza decided to commit the harshest of crimes. Following Sandy Hook, authorities investigated Lanza’s background and found out he lost touch with reality. The mass murderer cut off communication with all in his life, locking himself in his room, playing brutal video games and researching murderers. While these actions solidified part of his motives, his intentions were and are still unknown. Was it weakness or evilness that caused Lanza to murder 26 human beings? Was Adam Lanza born with a weakness or did he develop a hatred of the world, overtime? Although these questions may never be answered, the mark he left on the world will never be forgotten, for the sadness and despair he
