In Chinese Cinderella, by Adeline Yen Mah, Yeye and Aunt Baba demonstrate their belief in Adeline by helping Adeline through her main problems throughout the story. The key idea of Adelines grandparents helping her through her problems is them being like a tower, and trying to hold that tower up, and succeeding. A quote from the book that is showing when Yeye is reattaching Adeline Chinese, “I agree that Chinese characters are more difficult to learn then English. We do not have an alphabet and there is no correlation at all between out written and spoken language.” This is important because it is YeYe not giving up on Adaline when she had a problem. This happens throughout the story, and goes back to the tower of Adaline. A few examples
