Adnan is adamant and staunch when talking about only having love and respect towards Hae and that he never will kill her. Adnan talks about the accusations being made about him. Although, Cinder and Ella have similarities such as living with their step mother and step sisters, falling for a prince, attending a ball and having past away parents I noticed a lot of differences. Cinder is a book about a mechanic cyborg who lives in a futuristic setting in New Beijing. Cinder lives with her step sisters and mother but only bonds with one of them, which is her step sister Peony. Later on in the book Peony is affected by a contagious plague called letumosis, letumosis is a virus killing many Earthians due to the struggle of finding a cure of the strange sickness. Dr. Erland and many other scientist try their best to find the cure but once they do from the lunar queen Levana before Peony can take it, Peony passes away at the hospital in front of Cinder.
Asia McClain says, “Adnan came in. He sat at the table. And we weren't really close friends or anything like that, but we knew each other. And we chatted or whatever. And I can't remember.”
Adeline wouldn’t even have proper fitting clothes for school. She would even walk to school and back home everyday because she wasn’t given money for the tram fare. Adeline would sometimes get away with getting a ride from her classmate and friend, Wu Chun-mei but would grow anxious because she didn’t to be caught. Eventually, Niang grew impatient with how “unloyal” Adeline was to her family and sent her
In the letter, Aunt Baba mentions all the memories they made together and how she always loved her. The letter also talks about the struggles that Adeline faced throughout her life and how she managed to persevere. “you have defied the odds and garnered triumph through your own efforts. Your future is limitless, and I shall always be proud of You, my Chinese cinderella” (Yen Mah 403-404). This quote summarises the entirety of Adeline's character, it shows that even though she went through many hardships she still persevered.
Adnan was 18 years old, a senior at Woodlawn High School in Baltimore, Maryland. His ex- girlfriend, now deceased, was also 18 years old and was a senior who attended the same school. This is a teen fiction book called ‘Speak’ and it was written by Laurie Halse Anderson. It was published on October 22, 1999. The subject of my book is about a teenage girl who lost all of her best friends for a thing that she did at the end of the summer party by calling the police. Her best friends stop talking to her and people from a distance hating her because she never tells the reason why she called the polices at that night. The thesis of this story is about, even if you are right but never speak up, people will never know the truth.
Adeline faces many tough challenges and is forced to inwardly prepare herself for the obstacles that are continually thrown at her. Adeline lives in a negative household where it is considered conventional for her to be despised, and so she has a constant feeling of being rejected. She shoulders that burden through her school and even keeps up the pretence that she comes from a secure household. Even though she doesn’t confide her true feelings, she eventually opens up. This is shown when Adeline exclaims to Aunt Baba, “I want to forget about everything that goes on here!”
I think that she thinks that Aunt Baba is the only one that cares about her and that she wants PLT to think that about her. Quote “As soon as I said this, I felt scared and wanted to back out, but Wu Chun-mei was already jumping up and down with glee.” Pg.98 & 99 Response I feel really bad for Adeline. She probably doesn’t want to show how weak towards Niang she is.
In Chinese Cinderella, by Adeline Yen Mah, Yeye and Aunt Baba demonstrate their belief in Adeline by helping Adeline through her main problems throughout the story. The key idea of Adelines grandparents helping her through her problems is them being like a tower, and trying to hold that tower up, and succeeding. A quote from the book that is showing when Yeye is reattaching Adeline Chinese, “I agree that Chinese characters are more difficult to learn then English.

“I couldn't possibly tell anyone the truth: how worthless and ugly Niang made me feel most of the time…” (54). It is important because it supports the belief that Adeline feels despised by her family. This proves that Niang is seriously affecting her stepdaughter's feelings. Adeline is treated unfairly by her family, especially by her parents. In Chinese Cinderella, Adeline Yen Mah’s story about her childhood experiences, she suffered and she wasn't happy, but she always knew things would get better someday.
In the list of the world’s most watched fairy tales, Cinderella is of no exception. Over the years, seven hundred versions of Cinderella have been created all over the world in different languages (Kelley, 1994). In the 19th century, the first written form of the story was published in China. However, a modern version of Cinderella collated in France in 1697 by Charles Perrault (Williams, 2016) has become very popular in the United States (Kelley, 1994). Based on Perrault’s version, Walt Disney created a full-length animation of Cinderella in 1950 (History.com Staff, 2009).
