How will your background, values, and non-work activities enhance the experience of other graduate students at the University and add value to the University's diverse culture?
Introduction
The first questions you have to answer with this essay are what is added value and what a diverse culture is? Since this is an essay about me, I will give my answers to the questions. I believe adding value can be both negative and positive. What I mean by that is you can learn from all things in life. The incorrect and correct form of doing something adds value to what you can bring to a company or school in the future. Diversity is simply a melting pot of people, views, and ideas. I have been taught to look outside the box when hiring personnel and that has also led me to surround myself with a group of diverse people in friendship.
Background
With over sixteen years of professional experience ranging from operating a nuclear reactor aboard a United States Submarine to managing a 2 million dollar a year in revenue retail store with about 75 employees. My core values have continued through my civilian career, which will continue to add value to the Masters in Business Administration program. Since Thomas Edison State University has a lot of military students I will go further and say that my values stem from also being fourth generation Navy. This has allowed me to have values instilled in me from early childhood. I believe that have a childhood that moves from school to school in service to your country shows a determination to do well in school and still have the ability to chip in with the family when my father was away.
