One of the things that first drew me to the University of Georgia was its renowned honors program, and now that I have fallen in love with the university and with Athens, I desire greatly to be a part of this impressive program. If accepted, I hope to benefit from the program’s research and internship opportunities, and boundless connections that which prepare me greatly for graduate school and the work force after UGA. Entering into the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences as a freshman this coming fall, I have an immense fascination with physical and life sciences such as physics, chemistry and biochemistry that I hope to greater explore in my first few semesters on campus. Research allows for students like myself to get a glimpse at the life of a scientist and researcher by diving into a collaborative and stimulating environment with professors who have a rooted interest in the topic. Through CURO, I have one of the greatest educational opportunities to not only conduct research, but to do so at any point, gaining invaluable experience. Also, internships, such as the summer internship at a research facility in Washington D.C., allows for exposure to a career in research and science. Through these opportunities, I will be better prepared, and a better candidate, for graduate school and my career. Additionally, the honors program provides their students with resources and connections that other UGA students do not benefit from. The honors program is a community that links all alumni to current students for their benefit. In doing so, honors students can connect with mentors that will aid them in their success at UGA and after. The honors program has strong attributes that would make my time at UGA all the more
