From August 2010 to May 2017, I’ve had the privilege of attending A. R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School. For acceptance into this school, each student is selected from a highly competitive application process. Once enrolled, I found myself surrounded by other high achieving students who were career-oriented. After six years at the magnet school, I was one of 22 students to graduate with Honors in 2017.

I hold Georgia State University’s Honors College in high regard because it provides multiple opportunities that will allow me to excel. I have an interest in the fine arts, volunteerism, student involvement, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). As for the Fine Arts, I have been blessed with the ability to dance, sing, and act. I’ve been dancing since I was three years old, learning ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and Afro-Caribbean dance forms. At various pageants in Georgia, I have sung for my talent. Additionally, I was booked as entertainment for the Boys and Girls Club of America’s Regional Convention where I sang for the Board members and staff. Since middle school, I have heavily incorporated theatre into my life, participating in multiple plays and musicals. My senior year of high school, I founded a drama club to promote creativity and self-expression amongst my peers. Since I moved to Atlanta for school in August 2017, I have gravitated to the film industry. My past and current experiences as a volunteer and as an involved student have made it effortless for me to develop many skills, such as interpersonal, self-starting, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and working with teams.

Since middle school, I have actively participated in a variety of engineering programs. I was exposed to STEM careers from an early age. In seventh grade, I quickly developed a specific interest in Computer Science, which is my current major. I became fascinated with being the creative mind behind a computer program. Unfortunately, over the years, I have noticed a lack of diversity in this career field. Therefore, I am applying my leadership skills to increase the minority levels in STEM careers by developing a student organization at Georgia State University called the National Society of Black Engineers
