A Christian pastor and his wife’s adopted son has been charged with murder after the couple was recently found dead in Alabama. On Thursday night, Pastor William Jeremy Hulsey, 43, and his wife Sandra Hulsey, 37, were shot dead inside their home in Hartselle. Priceville cops were called to the residence, and an investigation flagged their adoptive son as a person of interest in the crime, according to AL.com.
Adnan gave Jay his car and cell phone so that he could buy his girlfriends a present. Adnan then told Jay that he was going to kill Hae. Jay then drops Adnan off at school. After school Adnan kills Hae in her car by strangling her. Then he calls Jay from the payphone at Best Buy, telling Jay to come pick him up and that the murder was done.
The question of Adnan’s innocence has been discussed thoroughly and through evidence gathered from various sources while also including the Serial podcast it is to be believed that Adnan Syed is innocent. The first piece of evidence that proves Adnan’s innocence is his association with Jay. Furthermore, the untrustworthy statements Jay has provided over time. In the serial podcast, an interview with Jay goes as follows, Detective: “Why did you lie about the location [where Hae was killed]?” Jay: “Uh, I figured there were cameras there or somebody had spotted him doing what he was doing.”
The map print. According to Sarah she says “The most incriminating piece of physical evidence against Adnan Syed was a fingerprint, or rather, a palm print. On a map..police found it in the backseat of Hae’s car.(pdf page 128) On the back cover was a partial print of Adnan’s left palm.” Out of this whole case this is the only physical evidence they have against him- which isn’t much.
First, Adnan had asked Hae for a ride, but she declines. With anger of the breakup and her decline, he kills Hae. Jay Wild, one person who was involved in burying Hae’s body had told Jennifer Pusateri about it. She told detectives and at trial that that Adnan killed Hae. Call records from Adnan’s phone showed where he made the calls and who they were from.
Later, new evidence of DNA being involved showed that there was none of Adnan’s DNA found. With this information, they decided to drop the case. With this news, Adnan is set free and out of jail. This was in October 2022. Yet some people think that Syed should still be in prison even though DNA is proving he can be free and was not at all involved in the murder of Hae Min Lee.
He says “uh, I do remember that phone call.” ( Koenig, “The Alibi”)This makes it really hard to believe that Adnan wasn’t lying about not remembering anything about the day Of Hae’s death. It’s hard to believe that Adnan didn't remember anything about the day his ex-girlfriend was murdered especially since he still had feelings for
Think about how often people get arrested and how often trials are held every year, let alone everyday. Oftentimes, innocent people are accused and charged for a crime that wasn’t there fault. This was the case for Adnan Syed, an innocent guy who was put in jail for a murder case. On January 13, 1999, Hae Min Lee was murdered at the age of 17. The evidence for this case was very unexplainable, but of course, the state went after Hae’s ex-boyfriend Adnan who really had nothing to do with the murder.
According to crime stoppers 9 out of 10 first time killers will not be able to get a good night sleep because they are restless, because the guilt of killing someone eats them alive. If Adnan really did kill Hae than why was he not restless and sound asleep, the guilt would have especially been bothered by killing someone because the whole community would have been against him and his family. The fact that Adnan never got to say his side of the story makes him innocent alone. How can you throw some one in jail without hearing what they had to say or their point of view on how things played out.
Of course, many people think Adnan Syed is guilty of murdering Hae by contradicting himself, by saying, “I am in here for my own mistakes.” He might have been on the edge of confessing his guilt until Sarah caught this and asked what he meant, and quickly recovers from his mistake. Adnan also slips his tongue by saying that he wants people to only look at the evidence, and not his personality. If I were convicted of a crime I would certainly like to have my personality be looked at, if I were innocent. So they could see what good I have done.
Jay came in months later to talk about what happened that day and he owned up to being an assist to murder. I feel that he should have gotten some time in jail because he claims to have been there at the scene and helped to bury Hae. When Jay started getting heavily questioned he had a very guilty tone of voice to himself. His voice dimmed down and then raised to an almost yell. I could almost place the reactions
This led to accusations claiming that Adnan killed Hae out of spite of the breakup. One argument presented was the fact that his religion could have driven him to commit the murder. The prosecution relied on ideas like honors killings from his culture, or rather the culture they assumed he fit into based on race. The prosecution claimed that Adnan killed her to protect his honor in the Islam faith and Pakistani culture, as the prosecution falsely identified him as Pakistani again, he is American. First, approaching the idea that his religion caused him to kill Hae.
O.J. Simpson was a famous football player and that was accused of killing his ex-wife nicole brown , also her boyfriend Ron Goldman. They were brutally stabbed to death on June 12, 1994 at the resident of Nicole brown condo in Brentwood. Before the bodies were ever recovered Oj had packed his bags and caught a flight to Chicago, later he received a phone call saying that Nicole Brown was murder. The cops wanted to talk to him and later he had lead the cops on a hot pursuit chase and they apprehended him. OJ Simpson should be held accountable for murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman.
Putting these circumstances aside, it was said by many that the relationship was pretty typical and Adnan got over the breakup easily. This was said by teachers and friends of both Hae and Adnan. One of Hae’s friends, Becky, explained the relationship as “just a silly, teenage, high school, relationship” (Koenig “The Breakup”) which proves that Adnan was not as upset as the prosecution made him out to be at trial. Another notable aspect is that after Hae and Adnan broke up, Hae got in a small car accident and asked Adnan to come help her, her new boyfriend Don also showed up and confirms that him and Adnan had a cordial meeting and explains that they talked for 10 to 15 minutes even after the car situation had been figured out (Koenig “What We Know”). If Adnan was really that broken up about the breakup, he would not have been so friendly towards the new guy who seemed to take his place in Hae’s life.
These people say that since Hae broke up with Adnan and that was enough reason to want her dead. However, Adnan was a smart kid who would realize that killing someone for breaking up with you is not a valid reason. Adnan was not hurt enough to kill Hae; he was devastated when she died and he didn't know about it when he was told. Also, they say that Adnan had enough time to kill Hae. What this opinion fails to take into account is that Asia saw Adnan at the library around the same time of the murder and she was never used in court as an alibi (Koenig, “The Best Defense is a Good Defense”).
