Adolf Hitler. We all know the name. We all see him as a horrible man for his actions. For his dictatorship. But what do we know about him personally? Yes, we know he performed the Holocaust. He was said to be racist towards Jews. We learned all about that as kids. And yes, he was a horrible man. He shouldn’t have done anything he did, but why did he do it? What was his childhood like? What were his dreams? What led up to him being dictator? What made Hitler who he was?

After the outbreak of WWI, a year later, Hitler had volunteered for action in the German army. He fought on Germany’s Western front, but never once gained a promotion. Although this bothered him, he stayed in the war. He was injured severely more than twice, but won several awards for his bravery, one of them being the Iron Cross First Class, a highly respected reward.
After the war ended in 1918, Hitler felt he had nothing to keep him busy; no goal. He joined other army veterans and continued to fight in the streets of Germany, until the spring of 1919. Hitler had then been employed as a political officer for the army of Munich, with the help of another soldier named Ernst Roehm, who later became head of Hitler’s elite soldiers, known as the SA.
With his new rank, Hitler attended several meetings of the German Workers’ party, a nationalist, socialist, anti-Semitic group. Hitler quickly distinguished himself as the party’s most immersive and popular propagandist. With his social skills and charisma, Hitler had brought over six thousand to the party, just by 1921. His Nazi were in key positions, and his Military ally Werner von Blomberg was the head of the Defense Ministry. Hitler had all levels of government and political institutions under his control, and he quickly eliminated his rivals and competitors. After the death of President Hindenburg in 1934, Hitler would have been president. But instead, Hitler became the Führer, or leader. This had made him the head of state, and the leader of his new state. Joseph Goebbels, a close friend of Hitler’s, became a propaganda machine for the Nazi, and Heinrich Himmler’s police system covered the final steps in order to give Hitler full control of
