Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, “December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy… No matter how long it may takes us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people, in their righteous might, will win through to absolute victory” (President Franklin D. Roosevelt). The Bombing of Pearl Harbor was when Japan sent the kamikazes, suicide pilots, to crash into American ships. Japan did this so that the Americans couldn’t interfere with their invasion into the Dutch East Indies and also into Malaya for their oil and rubber. Before the Bombing of Pearl Harbor many events were happening. World War II was the main event going on. This war would soon become known as the biggest war in world history. World War II started on September 1, 1931 when France and Great Britain declared war on Germany after Germany invaded Poland. After the invasion Germany said that it was a defensive action and not a real invasion, but France and Great Britain were not convinced so they declared war on Germany. Germany’s leader, Adolf Hitler, was the Fuhrer of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945. Before he became their leader he was a politician who later became the leader of the Nazi Party.
