Planes. Missiles. Bombs. Torpedoes. Bullets. On December 7, 1941, destroyers poured down from the sky onto Pearl Harbor. Japanese planes scattered around the naval base dropping hundreds of bombs and bullets. First, a 1,800 pound bomb landed on the USS Arizona, a ship on the base, sinking the tank as well as over one thousand people. Then torpedoes pounded on the USS Oklahoma, tipping the ship and sinking four hundred sailors. The attacks on these ships, were just two of twenty ships bombed. Meanwhile, three hundred airplanes were destroyed on the air fields. Although, just before the attacks, rivalry between Japan and America continuously increased.
