The theme of the story is centered on the process of adoption, told by a perspective of a puppy. The theme especially is focused on the emotional aspect of adoption, and what the puppy goes though mentally. The purpose of the story is to teach. This story is teaching a younger audience about a kind of an “adult” or “hard to understand” topic. This story is comprised of 375 words expanded among 18-20 pages. The intent of the story was to teach children at a young age what type of emotions an animal might exhibit because of the adoption process. This is especially intended for people who may be struggling with the adoption/foster care system, and feel as if they are alone, but through a puppy’s journey. They can possibly find a way to coupe and/or feel more at ease with the system. In other words, this is intended for someone who may be new to adoption, whether it be through experience or through pets, who may be nervous, anxious, or possibly worried. This puppy was abandoned in the outskirts of a park in an unknown city. As a young puppy, he can learn to live with someone, but is old enough to remember his mother. One night, a person who works for a shelter for pets finds this little puppy without a name. This person takes the puppy to the clinic, and recuperates the puppy back to health physically. However, this puppy is still struggling with himself internally, or emotionally. The clinic decides to name this puppy Ace, and puts him into the recovery center to recover from everything. After that, they also take Ace to other puppies at his age in hopes for him to get out of his shell.
