Lorenzo’s Oil was a movie about a boy who is born with Adrenoleukodystrophy, a disease that was passed down from the mother, and the parents fight to find a cure for their son. Each person has different ethics and the four main types are Deontological, Teleological, Virtue Oriented and Divine Command. Michela Odone was a strong willed mother who based her views on how people interact with her son and how they view the family dynamic. She is classified as a deontological person. In the movie, she believed that the two caretakers she hired to care for Lorenzo were unfit to care. They were fired for very different reasons; the first caretaker was fired because she believed that Michela and Augusto should let their son die in a hospice. The second …show more content…

They searched and searched for anything that would give them information about the disease their son had. They spent early morning and late nights creating theories and I believe this was a way for both of Augusto and Michela to cope with the current fate that was set for them. Something that stood out the most to me was when Augusto used the analogy of the kitchen sink. That was the beginning of the discovery of Lorenzo’s Oil. It showed them that the diet that a doctor had prescribed for Lorenzo not only did not work but also was hurting him. Therefore, they created Lorenzo’s oil to trick the brain into not producing the extra protein that was destroying his brain cells. I just find it amazing that they were just normal people But when face with a tough situation not only did they find doctors to help them, They became the doctors for their son and created a way to stop the progression of Adrenoleukodystrophy. Another thing that caught my attention was when the realization hit both Augusto and
