Study abroad is one of the best ways for a student to acquire marketable international qualifications and cross-cultural competency, two of the most decisive aptitudes for individuals today for their future career, prior to graduation. Increasingly, employers seek workers who can speak another language and who understand other cultures. For undergraduates who are thinking about professions in worldwide business, diplomacy, foreign relations and other fields, studying abroad is almost imperative. To be more specific, for good career, individuals have to possess certain soft skills especially communication, analytical abilities, teamwork and flexibility are highly prized, and studying abroad is an excellent way to obtain or to develop them. These experiences and wisdom students acquired while studying abroad can give to students plenty examples and real life situations to integrate into an interview to better illustrate their strengths and work ethic, which certainly positively influence on career development. According to Wallace (1999), it was surveyed and interviewed 48 alumni 10 years after their participation during the 1985 to 1986 academic year in Pomona College’s Study Abroad Programs. The results of the two career-related survey questions demonstrated a clear positive impact of studying abroad. Fifty-nine percent of respondents reported that their study abroad experience had a moderate to very significant influence on their career development. When asked if their careers had been very constructively influenced by studying abroad, 71% of respondents agreed (cited in).
