I will start with the Union and the Confederates putting up a massive fight. One of the advantages that the Confederates had was they were fighting on the defensive side. But a downside was that they acted as aggressors against the union because they had to protect and preserve the boundaries. Also, something interesting about the war was that it falls mostly in the South which was a huge advantage to the Confederates because they already knew the battleground.
