In the text “Contemporary Ethnic Geographies in America” informs us about ethnic enclaves in the United States in an article by Brian J. Godfrey. Chapter 3: New Ethnic Landscapes informs us about how a town can become an establishment such as a monument to one city. Ethnic Enclaves: Consolidation of Place-based Identities on page 67 explains the identities found within cultural landscaping and how its shape and effects reflect on the demographics of the city. Emigrants are those who exit their country. It is not common for people to leave their country of origin without necessity to do so. Individuals and or groups may migrate for reasons such as economic, social, environmental, and political. In the United States especially, there is a large stigma against those deemed “immigrant” and “emigrant.” Because these terms are often preceded by the word “illegal,” an environment has been created that views any sort of immigration in a negative light.
I believe that Huntington's statements are more generalized than stating facts. On the other hand, Foley makes a valid point of saying that most Mexican immigrants enter the United States just to work. Not "abusing" the welfare system as Huntington thought it was one of the reasons for illegal and legal entry. And how most American would like that immigration would stop because it will make the economy "better". Or how Donald Trump wants "America to be great again" if there was no Hispanic people living in the United States.
What does assimilation mean for Hispanics? The Term “Hispanic” makes reference to Chicanos, Puerto Ricans or all those people from Latin America but live in The United States. It’s clear that not all Hispanics receive the same treatment. Unfortunately, racial and Ethnic Features play a very interesting roles in the process of assimilation of Latino immigrant in The United States. These places are considered majority-minority populations. However, the definition of majority does not depend on a numerical value, but rather differences in prestige, income, and power. Minority groups are individuals with less power, wealth, and prestige, and the majority groups are those with more of each category. These classifications case prejudice and discrimination, which negatively effect individuals in minority groups.

Sociology dictionary describes the multi-cultural society/city as “a society characterized by cultural pluralism”; one society rejoices cultural mixtures such as linguistic, religious, ethnical diversities (Encyclopedia.com, 2017). The wealth of multicultural cities poses challenges to the multicultural cities and their citizens.
The definition of multiculturalism is when you have cultural diversity within a society. Many people assume that having a multicultural society is a great thing, and in most ways it is. However, with a multicultural society, some problems will occur. In this essay I will debate whether or not a multicultural society is a good thing, and will be pointing out advantages and disadvantages.
