The Civil war led up to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. During the war, the Union was split on the concept of slavery. The South lost the war and it was completely destroyed. Many Southerners were in despair. They blamed Lincoln for their problems. One of these people was John Wilkes Booth. On April 15, 1865 John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Lincoln. After his death, different sequences of events led to advantages and disadvantages of Lincoln assassination. First of all, when Lincoln died, his Vice President Andrew Johnson became president and he passed strict laws for the Southern States to enter back into the Union, which is not what Lincoln wanted. This led to Southern states starting black codes for African Americans because
