Abraham Lincoln Abraham Lincoln was probably best known for being the president of the Civil War but Lincoln played another big role as he also helped fuel the Civil War. He helped get this war started by speeking against slavery. Lincoln said slavery shouldn’t be abolished but excluded the territories. Because of what lincoln said this put southerners in a state of fear because if he were to win his election and slavery would be excluded from the territories that would mean that no new slave states could be added thus getting rid of slavery as a whole.
The Civil War on the other hand, was a period in American history that was marked by great inflation, on both sides of the conflict. Both the Union and Confederacy were faced with the urgent need to generate large quantities of funds to pay for the exorbitant costs involved in prosecuting the ongoing war. Both governments then resorted to the same tactic in order to acquire the funds they so desperately needed to continue to fund their respective militaries. They simply printed more money as they needed in order to pay their outstanding debts. The difference, however, was that the Union’s currency was backed by a gold and silver standard.
Lincoln made sure to keep new states from becoming slave states, yet he didn’t make it illegal for states that already had slaves. This brought tension because this made it harder for the south to gain western political allies. This caused the slave states to secede and become the United Confederate States. They adopted Jefferson Davis as their president.
The election of President Lincoln had a huge affect on the civil war. Lincoln made numerous attempts to free slaves and to end the civil war. All of his attempts had helped in ways to end the civil war. His attempts included of the 13th amendment, the Emancipation Proclamation, his hard work on keeping the United States as one, and etc. Also because of the election of president Lincoln the 14th and 15th amendment was later on made as one of the Civil War Amendments.

The Union emerged victorious against the Confederates in American Civil War because the Union had more soldiers, resources, and far better infrastructure.

With the win for the Northern anti-slavery movement and pro-Union advocates, the United States established a powerful federal government that brought with it many successes economically, political and socially. The economic clout of the Southern States decreased after the Civil War because the region depended mostly on free labor from slaves. This gave the North more political power over the South to carry out its policy changes. Just like in any war, the Civil War led to physical damage to the Southern region as well as loss of life.

It changed Americans in many ways as neighbors fought each other through the 4 gruesome years of the war. Conflict between the sides were like fights between brother and brother instead with many deaths.
