Slavery in the United States was a very common thing which many accepted, however for slavery to end many events had to happen. Harriet Tubman played a role in ending slavery and she was a leader for the slaves and helped other slaves gain freedom. The end of the triangular trade was also a big factor in ending slavery. The factors which abolished slavery in the United States were the end of the triangular trade, Harriet Tubman's leadership and the Civil war. The triangular trade was a 3 part trade between Americans and the Europeans. First the Europeans would travel to West Africa. When they reached there, they would trade guns and clothes for men, women and children, Second the Europeans would sell the slaves to the Americans, Third the Americans would force the slaves to work labor jobs such as picking cotton and after that the Americans would travel to Europe and sell the goods the slaves harvested to Europeans. At this time Abraham Lincoln was elected president, the south saw him as a man who would end slavery; however, Lincoln did not see himself this way. Lincoln had 2 goals, which were to end slavery and to keep the country together.
