Going to college for most is a very exciting time in life because you get to move out, meet new people, and discover yourself. There are many colleges out there to choose from. Minerva is a college different from all traditional colleges because it is based solely online. In the story, Is College Doomed, Graeme Wood visited Minerva and got a firsthand experience of what a life of a Minerva student is typically like. Although the institution has some interesting aspects such as going to different countries every semester, it is not the right college for people who want to truly experience college because it does not provide in class education, an official campus, or a variety of majors to choose from. What makes Minerva different from traditional colleges is the fact that it is all online. That means that there will not be any in class education. The lack of in class education will prevent any actual face to face interactions with the people around. A big attraction of college is the campus. Because there is no campus for Minerva, it makes it harder for the students to be active in school. Students there will not be able to participate in any school activities like clubs, football games, or research. They will miss out on a lot of opportunities out there that helps them discover their interest or meet new people. Having no campus also means that there will be no place to get extra help. In traditional universities, professors will have office hours available that allows students to get extra help or ask question to better ensure their success. There are also a lot of free tutoring sessions provided on campus to help students who needs an extra boost in a specific subject. The campus is what makes college life more interesting with all the activities happening around which can’t be felt through
