High School JROTC Instructors are retired Officers and Noncommissioned Officers carrying decades of military experience, whose responsibility is to teach students character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership, and diversity. In order to become a JROTC instructor, the following questions must be addressed. The U.S. Army Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) is a program that was designed to teach high school students citizenship values, personal responsibility, and leadership all while using a military structure to teach students teamwork and self discipline. JROTC prepares the future of our nation to be a law abiding citizens in society. With the passage of the National Defense Act of 1916, JROTC was born. Today, in the 21st century, JROTC differs from 100 years ago. Without a doubt, JROTC will change in the 22nd century to adapt to social norms like today.
Once looked upon primarily as a source of enlisted recruits and officer candidates, it became a citizenship program devoted to the moral, physical and educational uplift of American youth. The program continues its military structure and the result ability to infuse in its student cadets a sense of discipline and order, it shed most of its early military content. The study of citizenship, communications, leadership, life skills and other subjects to prepare young men and women to take their place in adult society. More recently, an improved student centered curriculum focusing on character building and civic responsibility is being presented in every JROTC classroom.
My steadfast desire to attend a service academy is rooted from my determination to become the best officer I can possibly be. Service academies focus on a career in the military which has become by life 's dream. The atmosphere at a service academy ensures I will have every resource available to help me mature mentally, morally, and physically to reach my goal. Traditional colleges or universities may offer some military oriented courses such as ROTC programs, however, I am not seeking a course, I am seeking a lifestyle which is assured at a service academy. I feel the daily rigors presented at a service academy will help me prepare for the challenges I will be faced within the fleet more so than a traditional college or university.
The Marine Corps Core Values are Honor, Courage, and Commitment these are the cells that make the marrow that's in the bones of the Marine Corps. They’re more than just a guideline on how to conduct yourself as a marine on and off duty, their a way of life. From day one of recruit training until our twentieth year in service we are expected to live by and constantly exercise these three values. With Honor you are meant to be loyal to the corps and all of its beliefs. With Courage you are expected to live up and beyond your potential to grow learn and test your limits.
Attendance to a service academy is my wish due to my desire to serve and to continue my family 's history of being in the armed services. The idea of serving one’s country has been with me my entire life. My father has been in the PA National Guard for over 20 years and he has now been activated for duty overseas. Seeing my father serve in the army, spending time away from our family, and the importance he places on what he does in the army has directly influenced me in seeking acceptance into a service academy. In addition, my family has served in the military every generation since the revolutionary war.
My experience in the JAG program has further taught me responsibility and also trustworthiness. These services have also taught me patience and positivity, which are occasionally necessary because children can be challenging to work with if they are not having a good day. These services show how I have vital leadership skills, which could be necessary in the many services Carrboro High School’s National Honor Society provides to the community. Due to my experience in a wide range of service, I have become exceptionally adjustable in terms of who I can work with. I work well with children, as shown by my camp hours and my work with the refugee club.
Arnold Schwarzenegger once said, “Help others and give something back. I guarantee you will discover that while public service improves the lives and the world around you, the greatest reward is the enrichment and new meaning it will bring to your own life.” This quote clearly explains what service truly means to people that care about others from their heart. National Honor Society is an organization which recognizes students’ achievements not just with exceeding grades, but with service, leadership, and character. Serving others is an important and valuable pillar of the National Honor Society.
The National Honor Society (NHS) is a notoriously prestigious organization, and it is possibly one of the greatest honors a student can earn in their high school career. Becoming a member of the NHS can open many doors for students, including leadership experience and opportunities for college scholarships. Admission for this program is based on certain ideals. The criteria for admission-scholarship, service, character, and leadership-are four areas in which, at least I believe, I excel. Even when I was a young child, I was very concerned with school.
Service, scholarship, character, and leadership are the four pillars that make the National Honor Society stand out from other organizations. Espousing these pillars, I find giving back to the community very important, which I show through my service with my church, ELO tutoring, and NHS activities including the OGES Holiday Shoppe and FHS tours. As an officer of the NHS, I will ensure we incorporate a variety of service opportunities to maintain this crucial aspect of our organization. My scholarship is displayed through challenging myself academically with a schedule containing a majority of AP courses, and involving myself in other honor societies including Mu Alpha Theta and Science Honor Society. Along with being deployed some of my learned skills were acquired when I was assigned as a Fury FSC retention NCO two years ago, and my job was to educate soldiers about what they qualified for and other entitlements. Even though the soldier already knew the skills needed in the Army and had knowledge of the Army, I still had to persuade individuals to why they should reenlist. This required some craftiness on my part as some of these soldiers needed to hear something that they haven't heard
