America. The land of the free. Of the equal. This was not always a true statement. While America claimed that all people were equal, black men and women were working for white families all over the place.
White privilege negatively impacts social justice which can lead to irreversible actions. Hillary Clinton once said, “If a country doesn't recognize minority rights and human rights, including women's rights, you will not have the kind of stability and prosperity that is possible.” We are all equals, whether we are woman, have a disability or are coloured. We all deserve the same rights. Without social injustice, life would be made fair.
There is one particular example that I can think of in my personal life that goes along with this theme of ‘white privilege.’ I attended Northeast Guilford High School, which is a primarily African American high school. Therefore, I was the minority. Right before I transitioned from middle school to high school, the district lines in my county were ‘redrawn’ and many of the black students who used to attend Eastern Guilford that lived in the lower income housing were now being sent to Northeast. It was almost as if they wanted to pull as many of the African American students into one school because they didn’t want those students of color to be attending the same school as the rich, white students.
America is a diverse melting pot of various ethnicities and heritages all blended together to create the American society. As beautiful as that is, America as a population is mired in fear of addressing issues such as white privilege which is the product of discrimination and racism. White privilege is viewed by those opposed to it that those who are privilege received unwarranted success as a result of status, luck and privilege rather than putting in hard work or using their brain to earn their success. The existence of discrimination from white privilege comes from the privilege attained by a certain as well as oppression and social prejudice facing certain other groups or races. Individuals who are privileged in one society seldomly are unaware of their privilege, not because of their own doing, but simply because it is very easy to be oblivious to the privilege when you have never seen its adverse effect from the other side.
Just by being white, I am privileged, and that puts down an entire race. It is very hard for me to think of how I have benefited from white privilege, as the book White Privilege suggests, this is because “whiteness has often gone unnamed and unexamined because it has uncritically and unthinkingly adopted as the norm throughout society” (Rothenberg 2). The book mentions a few ways I have benefited from white privilege that I have never thought of before. In a store, I never good looked at with suspicion. A privilege I have taken for granted because I am white and as Rothenberg suggests, white privilege is simply coextensive with [white] life, and whites do not notice their privilege any more than they would notice their whiteness.
The objective of this experiment is to investigate if Seagulls wait around the bears while they`re finishing to eat their left over. Commensalism is a relationship between two species who live in close association and one receives a benefit (+), whereas the other is unaffected (0). My hypothesis is that the Grizzly bears and the seagulls have a commensalism relationship, where the seagulls receive benefit and the bears are unaffected. I will randomly gather photos from different time frame to look at both the number of seagulls and bears.
White Privilege in America Recently in America racial tension has increased because events that’s have been occurring across the country. Across the United States (U.S.) black men have been killed by law enforcement and this has sparked protest in its aftermath. The media has started to give more time to these problems so more Americans have learned about them. This has started a conversation on different social issues that include the dominant culture, social privilege in the U.S. As a young black man this has affected me directly.

Often privilege is not something that is earned. Privilege is frequently granted into the role an individual was born into, however there are ways to obtain more privilege through occupation or social class. Privilege occurs due to social class, gender, or geographic location. A person who is born into a white middleclass family living in the suburbs is automatically more privilege than a black slum neighborhood low-income family. The individual in the first scenario may have a better opportunity for education and a brighter future.
Society has built up the idea of Americans to be that one specific thing and the people that do not fall into the category tend to suffer because they are seen as inferior. C. We've all heard the saying "White Privilege" used loosely in society. Well folks, it exists as a factual privilege given at birth to those of the Anglo-Saxon race of people, not only in America, but worldwide. Believe me folks, it comes with its perks and self proclaimed righteousness that creates its own preconceived path to success. People see whiteness because they experience its effects. A useful comparison can be drawn between the unrecognised privileges of males, and those of white people (McIntosh, 1988). It is not unusual for men to acknowledge that women are disadvantaged. With that said, McIntosh (1988) argues that white privilege is in the same manner without recognition and thus preserved. McIntosh (1988) views white privilege as an invisible collection of unearned assets that is of benefit to white people on a daily basis.
There are still factors that have only been erased on the surface but still play a large role in the way that people of color are treated in America, and dictate to a certain extent, compromise the “freedom” that people have. On the other hand, we have white America, who have heightened chances of achieving anything that they please. This does not apply to every white American, as there are also white Americans who are living on or below the poverty line, and much like everybody else must put in a lot of effort to reach certain heights, however they have an advantage over all other denomination of people known as “white privilege” which are the societal benefits that people who can be categorized as “white” enjoy over the rest of the population and in the end, have a higher social status. Ultimately, people of color must work harder, and face many more setbacks in their climb to success than white Americans do, which is not fair,
The University Playhouse’s recent production of Naomi Wallace’s One Flea Spare utilized both Restoration and Modern staging conventions. The performance embraced Restoration conventions through character types, epithets, and expressions of space, place, values, social structure, and beauty by the character of Mr. Snelgrave. The performance also embraced the Modern conventions of Naturalism and Realism through satire and representational aspects such as time appropriate costumes, realistic props, and a localized set. It strayed from these conventions through presentational aspects such as the half-walled room that served as the set, the nonlinear plotline, and the small symbolic crosses painted into the cobblestones of the stage.
