I. Privilege is a prominent factor in the lives of humans yet is also denied by the people it affects.
A. In America, society divides humans into ranks.
1. The white race is superior to any other race.
2. Man are superior to women.
3. Heterosexuals are superior to homosexuals.
a. The subgroups of society mentioned above are the most commonly talked about groups but there are other groups that too suffer from a lack of privilege that are not usually mentioned.
i. This includes, but is not limited to: disabled people, lower class and certain religions.
B. The ideal American is seen as: white, male, straight, able-bodied, upper class and Christian.

Society has built up the idea of Americans to be that one specific thing and the people that do not fall into the category tend to suffer because they are seen as inferior.
C. A big issue in America and from this group of people (white, straight and male) is the denial of their privilege.
1. This group, and even other groups like white women, tend to just claim that these minorities just do not work hard enough to make enough money or have the skills to get a good job.
2. In reality, these minority groups lack the fund and support they need to become successful, society works against them rather than uplifting them and pushing them to be the best they can be.
II. From issues of oppression, sprouts activist movement that work against the social norm in order to make society better.
A. Feminism came be to so that women, of every race, can be seen as equal to men.
B. Black Lives Matter came to be in order to tell people that in a world full of white people, black lives matter just as much and cannot be treated as inferiors.
C. These are just two of the many activist groups in America that are fighting for social reformation.
D. Groups, such as feminist and BLM, tend to coincide because in the end, they are fighting for the same thing:
