(Article I, Section 8, Clause 18). The Constitution is by far the most important document in our country's history. It provides rules and restrictions for the government and the power it can hold. It ensures the stability for our country’s survival.

After the USA became independent in 1776, we were put in serious national debt and our founding father Alexander Hamilton wanted to create a national bank to support our economy.
People have the tendency to take the First Amendment for granted, but some tend to use it to their favor. Stanley Fish presents his main argument about how people misuse this amendment for all their conflicts involving from racial issues to current political affairs in his article, Free-Speech Follies. His article involves those who misinterpret the First Amendment as their own works or constantly use it as an excuse to express their attitudes and desires about a certain subject matter. He expresses his personal opinions against those who consistently use the First Amendment as a weapon to defend themselves from harm of criticism.
On July 9, 1868, the Fourteenth amendment was formally introduced to the Constitution and granted citizenship to “all persons born or naturalized in the United States.” These words have as an ideal purpose that all levels of the federal government must operate within the law and provide fair conditions for all people. As a result, the states had a obligation to the public. Through the Fourteenth amendment, states were forbidden from denying any person “life, liberty, or property, without due process of law” or to “deny any person within jurisdiction the equal protection of laws.” By directly mentioning the role of the states, the Fourteenth amendment also expanded civil rights to African American slaves who had been emancipated after the American Civil War.
This is a interesting questioning because if you look at it two ways you could argue both sides. On one side you had the Thirteenth Amendment which was passed in 1865 which helped end slavery. Then you have the other side which shows that blacks were still treated unfairly. Freed black people in the South were meet by hatred after the Civil War. Southerns still wanted to uphold white supremacy in the South.
The first Amendment grants freedom concerning, religion, assembly, expression and the right to petition. These clauses are very satisfactory for the people of America. They cannot be taken away from the government or anyone else. However, if they are misused the government has the right to intrude. This essay will discuss the five clauses in the 1st amendment.
However, It is important to note that while individuals have the right to free speech, this right is not absolute. Source 2 states, “... First amendment should be treated not as a right but as a privilege...” This means that even though we have freedom of speech, it doesn’t mean we should take advantage of that. Additionally, those who take advantage of freedom of speech should have consequences given to them.
The 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution Probably the most debated amendment, the Second Amendment, was originally created so the people of the US could protect themselves but people argue that now it is doing more harm than good. Some say that this amendment is only meant to protect cities with militias but most say that it is meant for individuals to protects their homes, families, and themselves with firearms. The Second Amendment has had an impact on Americans since it’s creation. To this day we still exercise this right
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution states “Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech”. Some people in today’s time would argue the first amendment is one of the most important listed in the Bill of Rights. Many forms of speech are protected by the first amendment that one wouldn’t think would be such as flag burning and “adult videos”. Over the years there have been many different court cases that have debated and fought the forms of speech that are protected. Many people in society treat speech differently and this is given in the United States because there are such diverse groups throughout the nation.
The first Amendment is part of the Bill of Rights in the Constitution that protects the citizens freedom of expression. According to Source 1, the rights rights protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution are freedom of speech, religion, Press, assembly and petition. However, there have been times when the First Amendment has been restricted. In source 4, the Supreme Court case in Des Moines, lowa Mary Beth Tinker,13, her older brother and a friend wore black armbands white peace sings to their schools from of protest against the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam war school officials told to the students to remove their armbands, they refused and were suspended Student sued the school district. This shows that.

Religious minorities can be persecuted, protesters and media can be silenced, the press cannot criticize government, and citizens cannot mobilize for social change without the First Amendment. After explaining importance of First Amendment, I will explain how we can apply it to student newspapers.
Last but not least, the famous Second Amendment. Here is what it is about: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”. Pro-gun supporters love to cite the Second Amendment as a proof that it is their right to carry guns in order to rise up against a tyrannical government. However, they are only manipulating the original intent of the Second Amendment for their own profit. Back in the days, the United States had no standing federal army because the founders were afraid of a national standing army consolidating power and the states were expected to sustain a state militia in order to contribute to the national defence.
The Importance of the 1st Amendment In 1787 our founding fathers assembled the constitution of the United States of America. Of this which contains the most important document to the American citizen, the Bill of rights. The first Amendment states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances” These freedoms granted by the Bill of Rights are often known as freedom of expression. These rights are most important to a truly free society. The first amendment provides us with new ideas and dismisses the fear of punishment
“The NSA is not listening to Americans ' phone calls or monitoring their emails” (Does the Government). As the government states they are permitted to collect any Americans communications The Fourth Amendment protects your privacy, for instance the police cannot search personal properties. Due to the definition of "the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers,” it makes people feel secure (Legal Information). In addition, it prevents all irrelevant searches that are not useful.
Freedom of speech: Is it good or bad? I believe that at the time the First Amendment was written, it was a good thing … It was a way of giving the American people a right to talk to the government about something perceived as unjust with an inability by the government to shut them down for speaking. I think that, today, people take this amendment well beyond its original intent. For example: Telling a man he isn’t worth anything, because he is black … Or, back-talking your parents, because you’re a entitled little brat … In short, saying whatever you want, is not what our Founding Fathers had in mind.
