The mostly represents that they stand out more. Both kings look upright and with a strong character and personality. From looking at the statue he seems very powerful, respected and obeyed by others. From what I read in the wall text he had a lot of followers that looked up to him and advised him when he needed it.

Odysseus and Aeneas are looked at as two of the greatest great heroes in Greek Mythology. They are both on a journey with a purpose of returning to their home or establishing a home and share similar ancient Greek virtues of strength. But Odysseus represents the Greek characteristics of being deceptive, strategic, and self-centered while Aeneas represents the Roman characteristics of accepting his destined path despite is causing him unhappiness and putting the interest of others above his own. Odysseus represents the Greek hero because he is self-centered, strategic, deceptive, and tricky which is highly looked upon in the ancient Greek culture. He seeks to please the gods in a way that he can accomplish his own selfish goals.
Dionysiac values are vindicated by the illumination of the consequence of a mortal acting so impiously towards this god: a gruesome, violent death. Dionysus is more powerful than Pentheus, something the mortal does not reconcile, and he pays the price for this irreverence towards Dionysus. The people of Thebes do not understand than Dionysus is a god and does not abide by Earthly concepts of justice and fairness. The violent conclusion also serves as a means for Dionysus to exact revenge on the non-believers of Thebes in that if Pentheus hadn’t been excessive in his hatred for the Bacchae, and had joined Tiresias and Cadmus in their worship of Dionysus, he would have evaded a terrible amount of suffering.
Imagine one hero being immortalized as a renowned hero for committing unrighteous acts, whereas another more righteous hero is not praised as much as the other. In ancient literature such as the Aeneid and the Iliad, the heroes are displayed in a good light. In the Iliad, Achilles is shown to be an excellent warmongering hero. Whereas, in the Aeneid, Aeneas is shown as a great and devout man. Aeneas is a better depicted hero than Achilles in literature because he is shown to be more dutiful, loving, and caring for his people - unlike the ruthless Achilles.
Shouldn’t certain things be kept from the knowledge of the public, for the sake of the public itself? Brinker Hadley is one person whose peers would have been better off, if he had simply abided by that statement. To illustrate, Brinker had the majority part to do with Phineas’s overall death, because of him not keeping the knowledge of something crucial hidden. In the story, there is a large tree by a body of water, with rungs of wood leading up to a limb that, although it is very dangerous, can be jumped off of into the water.
Elise Beauchemin Mr. Mosher English 2 2/23/18 Aeneas and the Quintessence of Stoicism The Aeneid, an epic written by Virgil, thousands of years old and yet still read today by many. It tells the story of the Trojan hero, Aeneas, and his efforts to establish order and defend his homeland. Throughout the 9,896 lines of the poem, he lives according to the Ancient Roman ideals of the Stoic. He is the paragon of a Trojan hero who places duty above pleasure, controls his passions and appetites through the power of reason, does not let the storms and stress of life disturb his self-possession and composure, and practices the virtues of prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance.
Aeneas, on the other hand is a remarkable leader. He may not have been a king, but he is aware of all the duties that he needs to do in order to bring his people to a good home. When there are conflicts between his wishes and his public duties, he sacrifices his personal gains at great costs in order to fulfill his responsibilities. He gives importance to the people around him, irrespective of whether or not they are his allies or his enemies. He knows his priorities well enough to take the right action.

Exercise Two At first glance, Virgil’s description of Aeneas’ shield in The Aeneid may just appear to be a conveyance of Roman history. However, Virgil only includes precise descriptions and details in his catalogue to conform the narrative to his desires for Aeneas and Aeneas’ future in battle. Therefore, the purpose the catalogue serves in the narrative is to not only give Aeneas a purpose to fight, but also the confidence to fight bravely.
The other panel on the West wall of the altar has caused some recent debate. Originally thought to be a depiction from a scene from Virgil’s Aeneid, when Aeneas sacrificed a pig and her 30 piglets to Juno, now entertains the possibility of depicting Numa Pompilius, the Roman king associated with Peace and the Gates of Janus. Either scene can still be attributed to Augustan propaganda because like the previous panel, the scene being shown is acting as either a nod to
