The first thing I want to bring to the cohort would be my leadership experiences. I know that I share Duke’s value of placing great emphasize on the sense of community for the students and I always have a strong commitment to the organization that I’m involve with. During my second year at AIESEC (the world’s largest student run organization), the previous executive team left unexpectedly during a crisis. The organization was on the verge of collapsing. I know how AIESEC could add value to the students’ lives, so I stepped into the leadership role even when we had fewer than 10 experienced members remaining. The organization was suffering from insufficient cash flow. Understanding the challenges I faced, I was determined to rejuvenate the entity, grow into strong leader and take care of my people. I identified and prioritized the key projects for each semester, spent at least ten hours on effective weekly group meetings, individual feedback and coaching session with my VPs. To enrich the organization’s resources, In my sophomore year I walked into the school offices and spoke with the senior executives and developed a partnership with the official leadership programs as well as some business incubation platforms in Tsinghua. Eventually we expanded to 70 members in three universities with a strong presence. My teammates always told me, “It’s incredible that you persisted in that situation, if I were you I would have given up early.” …show more content…
In class I envision that I could provide strong support for our team and the fast-paced work. Outside of class I would take on roles in the MMS student association and help to organize events that create a better sense of belonging for
