Jose is also a certified trainer and facilitator of the Dave Ramsey (FPU) Financial Peace Workplace Program. Kappa Gamma Pi is a prestigious honor society that only a select group of student’s quality to apply for membership. It is a great honor to be offered the opportunity to become a part of an honor society that has an emphasis on excellence in leadership. Throughout my college career at St Joseph’s College and within my daily life I strived to achieve excellence. Leadership is an essential skill one must obtain especially within my program of study, Child Study. A teacher acts as a role model, and guide for their students.
I sacrificed my time to help plan for the Relay for Life. The Relay for Life event changed people's lives because it inspired them to donate money to cancer research and to help join the fight to end cancer. The character pillar has shaped by development by making the excellent choices. I started helping out for the community in any way possible. I have gained a lot of responsibility through the National Honor Society because I was responsible for writing a Relay for Life speech and delivering a speech for the American Cancer Society.
After the internship experience, I wanted to continue to make a difference through COAR and applied to become a staff member. I have now been a staff member for two consecutive semesters and have been a proactive member throughout the event planning process and in meetings. Outside of COAR, I currently volunteer weekly with the Young Women’s Leadership Program and
Likewise, I was never aware of the tremendous amount of happiness and sense of togetherness that comes with seeing the faces of students enjoying our sponsored events and other organizations hearing about our efforts on campus. Being the president of SHAC has truly been a blessing to me and has opened my eyes to my true potential as a leader. I no longer shy away from speaking in front of large groups, question whether or not to share my opinions on topics and believe that there is only one way to successfully accomplish a goal. Although I would love to say that SHAC has helped Brady Health and students here on campus, I know that it is being in SHAC that has truly helped me. I have developed into a person that I would not have recognized during my early days as a college student if it has not been for this leadership role.
The initiative that I am most proud of is the creation of the Association’s charitable arm, Colorado Concierge Inc. As president I plan eleven educational meetings yearly, help find and book guest speakers, oversee our website, plan events, help with
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund is a student group on campus that aimed to provide support and resources to Hispanic students at Columbia and Barnard. I was responsible for keeping minutes at meetings, sending out weekly newsletters, and planning events. I joined this group because I wanted to be more involved in the Hispanic community on campus and wished to be in a position to benefit this community as well. I attended weekly Saturday meetings and helped in the planning of at least 1 event every month. I left the group due to personal problems that forced me to focus more on my mental health and school.
In planning our event, we had many ideas about which would be the best within our capabilities, resources, and time constraints. One of our first ideas was The “Dance Marathon” and this was based off of previous colleges. This is an event in which participants stay on their feet for a certain amount of time to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. The mission statement is “We dance for those who can’t”. The idea is that people can learn dance moves and pay to participate within a certain length of time.
I competed in the HOSA district regional competition during my junior year and placed in the top five for my health career display. Subsequently, I went on to compete at the HOSA state competition, which showed me many of the possibilities available for a career in the field of healthcare. I have been a HOSA officer during both my junior and senior year. At HOSA annual leadership conferences, I have packed thousands of meals for Stop Hunger Now. These meals are sent to schools in impoverished countries, such as Haiti, thereby promoting education while reducing world hunger.
This has helped me to put my skills to the test and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the lower years and have been committed to it since I started. I thoroughly enjoy contributing in my local community, I have helped organize many charitable fairs as well as raising money for it by taking part in several activities such as charity fun runs, and five-mile runs; which was extremely rewarding for me personally as I had achieved 3rd place out of around two thousand. I enjoy partaking in charity events as I find it heart-warming to see large groups of people taking part in activities to raise money for the same
Even though my calling now is to be a nurse, I feel like being a professor that teach other students to help other in need is not a bad idea. Liberty University mission is to create Christ-centered men and women with values, knowledge, and skills essential to impact the world. Therefore, I stand by this mission to help other students so that they may help those less
As an ambassador I raise money for this charity by arranging events, taking part in hospice events such as 6k runs, and learning skills such as first aid training. This has allowed me to expand my learning and embrace a multitude of new
Every moment is a memorable part of the journey of life. I have always appreciated the value of giving to others because I believe that just being able to lend a hand to others, no matter how trivial it may be, is what makes life worth living. However, my desire to help people started when I began working with children as a teacher’s assistant. It would instill in me a lesson that I would never forget.
